I know so much about the Beatles and their music. I’ve honestly never met anyone who enjoys them as much as I do. It’s hard to connect with people about the Beatles because in my experience, most are casual listeners.
I’ve got everything from their first recording to their last. But the song that got me into them many years ago was probably their most well-known track.
The only song that’s ever given me goosebumps after thousands of listens.
It happens 2 minutes and 21 seconds into the song when Paul sings, “(hey jude)..You do”.
The way he says, “You do…” gets me every single time.
You can tell he put so much emotion in it for Julian.
But every part of this song is gold, all the hidden yells Paul does during the sing-a-long, the 2 seconds of Georges bass line at the very end of the fade out, RIngo getting the drum fill in right on time, Johns backing track and when he does his Buddy Holly hiccups, and last but not least, “Fucking Hell!”.
I bought this record from a nice old couple a few years ago that actually got to see Buddy Holly and the Crickets back in ‘58 on one of their first dates! We talked a little and I ended up over-paying for the record, but I wasn’t complaining. I wonder what they are up to now…
